1- CASTELLÓ d'EMPURIES

 Transfer from Girona airport or Figueres train station.


Welcome drink at the hotel in the centre of Castelló d’Empuries. Presentation of the tour by a member of staff.


Guided visit of the town. Along the narrow streets, many exemples of Catalan architecture:

a remarkable Romanesque /gothic cathedral, a medieval arched bridge, vestiges of the walls and 18th century style mansions.

2- BIRDWATCHING

in the MARSHLAND

Gentle walk in the second most important wetland of Catalonia.

Vegetation consists of tamarind shrubs, marine rush, reeds and salicorn. The nature reserve hosts reptiles, amphibians, fish and mammals. The most emblematic animals are the resident and migratory birds: ducks, herons, egrets, cormorants and wading birds such as cranes, flamingos, sandpipers and storks, the latter reintroduced in the 1980’s.

3- EMPURIES, reputed

Greco-Roman site

 Guided visit of the impressive ruins in the idyllic setting of the bay of Roses. You explore the layout of houses and stores, mosaics, spas and draining systems, the remains of the forum, the walls and the Archeological Museum.

Afternoon options:

1: visit of the museum of the anchovy, retracing the life of fishermen in the port of L’Escala

2: swimming & relaxing on the sandy beaches of Empuries

3: boat excursion along the canals and marinas of Empuriabrava

4- PERALADA,

Morning options:

1: cycling in the countryside to the village of Vilabertran + visit of the Romanesque monastery

Afternoon special “Wine & Spa”: visit of the wine cellar + museum + tasting of 3 products + spa.

The local vineyard is a prestigious and charismatic reference in Catalonia maintaining the tradition launched by the Benedictine monks in the Middle Ages.

From the hills of Vallespir to the shores of Vermillion Coast and Costa Brava, you discover the sites and panoramas that inspired their work, the towns and villages where they lived, the museums they helped to create.


Our programme combines walks, cultural visits and excursions. Wines from the prestigious domains of Collioure-Banyuls and Empordà are present at each stage to accompany the local cuisine.

BANYULS sur MER

Meeting in the town of the renowned sculptor Aristide Maillol. You explore the older part of the town where he worked during his younger years.

A few original works of the artist will be revealed.

COLLIOURE

In 1905 Matisse settled in this small fishermen's shelter which soon also welcomed Derain, Dufy and many others."Fauvism" was born here. You ramble along the picturesque streets on some unexpected detours.

COASTAL PATH

Scenic walk along the Vermillion Coast which captures the essence of the Mediterranean scenery: azure skies, blossoming hillsides, rocky coves and terraced vineyards. Tasting of sweet wines will be appreciated.

CERET

Strolling along the old town centre  under the century old plane trees to discover the spots where Picasso, Braque, Soutine and many more set up their easel.  Visit of the local "Musee d'Art Moderne" included.

CADAQUES

A full day dedicated to Salvador Dali: the wonderful multi-coloured scenery of Cap de Creus, largely reflected in his work, his surrealist house in Port Lligat and the lively streets of Cadaquès.

FIGUERES

Half-day excursion.

Dali's native town welcomes you for the visit of the world famous "Teatre Museu Dali".
